Alta Winter

For over 68 years, skiers have been making a trip to Alta to participate in fun winter activities.

Although Alta does not offer snowboarding on their main mountain, beginner skiers enjoy 25% of the trails at Alta, 40% are catered to an intermediate skier and avid skiers revel in 35% of their runs. The entire mountain features 116 runs and averages 500 inches of snowfall a year. Of the beginners trails, those at Alta suggest the Sunnyside, Albion and Cecret and they suggest the Sugarloaf for intermediate skiing.

Alta is not only known for their breathtaking views but also their deep powder snow.

Those looking for snow cat skiing and bording can find it in nearby Grizzly Gulch at an elevation of 10,500 feet.

While out on the slopes, Alta offers two mid-mountain cafeterias, Watson Shelter and Alf’s Restaurant, for dining and one base cafeteria, the Albion Grill. The Collins Grill is another option when it comes to dining, offering a fine dining, full service restaurant inside Watson Shelter.

Alta has all you need and more when it comes to shopping. From mid-mountain shops at Watson Shelter and Alf’s to base shops at Snowpine Lodge and Deep Powder House, whether you need clothing, souvenirs or skiing supplies, your shopping experiences will be top notch.

As far as accommodations go, Alta Lodge offers a “traditional” lodge atmosphere and exceptional service. Other accommodations include: Snowpine Lodge, the oldest lodge in little Cottonwood Canyon and luxury condominiums at The View.

This winter season, a trip to Alta will definitely be worth your while.
