Frisco, Colorado
The town of Frisco, Colorado lies nestled at the base of the awesome Ten Mile Range in Summit County and serves as a great epicenter for both winter and summer fun in the world renowned Rocky Mountains. Frisco is small and quaint and offers lodging, dining, sightseeing and other activities that make vacations in Colorado a lifelong memory.
Whether it’s mountain biking in Colorado, whitewater rafting, kayaking, or canoeing in Colorado, hiking in Colorado, or any other mountain activity, it’s hard to find a better spot than Frisco.
The shores of Lake Dillon line parts of the town, and the reservoir is home to sailing, and other types of fantastic boating for incredible summer fun. The Dillon Amphitheatre hosts various musical acts and is an incredible place to enjoy plays and the 4th of July fireworks. There are trails for hiking and mountain biking in Colorado that traverse the shores of lovely Lake Dillon, as well as paved trails for those that want to take in the sights without the necessity of a crash helmet.
Throughout the Ten Mile Range there are a myriad of trails that are among the best Colorado Trails. Whether you want a leisurely stroll through the woods, or an intense mountain biking experience, trails are easily found and easily accessible in Frisco.
As far as camping in Colorado, Frisco is something of a Mecca. There is car camping just outside of town over Swan Mountain, along the shores of Lake Dillon, and backpacking and car camping opportunities galore. Keep in mind, at an elevation of 9,042 feet, nighttime in Frisco can be a little bit cold. The temperate summer days offer solace from other steamy hot areas of semi-arid Colorado, but a campfire is rarely more appreciated than at a beautiful campsite in Frisco. Please be aware of fire restrictions, because wildfires are often an issue in the dry Rocky Mountains.
When it comes to whitewater rafting in Colorado, kayaking in Colorado, or fishing in Colorado, I wish you good luck in finding a better spot than Frisco. The incomparable Ten Mile Creek is lush with all kinds of Colorado trout, and there are numerous businesses that will take you on an incredible whitewater adventure, or will point you in the right direction to find the put-ins and take-outs along this incredible river.
Colorado nightlife is hardly lost on Frisco, even though it is a fairly quiet Colorado mountain town. Barkely’s West is a happening night spot that features live music, dancing and cavorting. The Moosejaw is where you’d go to interact with the locals. A Colorado town would hardly be complete without its own microbrewery. Check out the Backcountry Brewery for the finest of Colorado beers.
Whether it’s extreme mountain adventure, or a weekend getaway in a quaint Colorado mountain town, Frisco has all there is to offer.
