Lookout Pass Ski Area-Summer

Just outside of Lookout Pass Ski Area, the beautiful mountains of Idaho and Montana provide a beautiful backdrop for those looking for an exciting summer trip.

A must see for visitors to this area is the Hiawatha Bike Trail. The trail covers 15 miles and crosses the Bitterroot Mountains connecting Idaho and Montana. A former train line, construction began in 1997 to create the biking and hiking trail that has been continually expanded sine then until completion in 2001.

One of the highlights of the Hiawatha Bike Trail is the St. Paul Pass or the “Taft” Tunnel that travels 1.66 miles under the Bitterroot Mountains.

Additional miles of trail are currently being planned to travel to St. Regis, Montana and covering an additional 31 miles.

Camping is welcomed throughout Idaho and Montana, but for those who prefer their amenities, the area surrounding Lookout Pass Ski Area offers many accommodations.

From the Stardust Motel and the Brooks Motel in historic Wallace, Idaho to the Baymont Inn and Suites in Kellogg, Idaho, and the Black Diamond Guest Ranch and Resort and Inn the Middle of Nowhere in Montana, visitors will have many choices of where to rest their heads for the night.

Back inside the resort, Lookout Pass Ski Area offers a deli and grill, a full service bar and a gift shop for all of your vacation needs.

So, this summer dust off your hiking boots, lube up your bike chain and venture to the Lookout Pass Ski Area for some fun in and around the resort.
