Silverthorne and Dillon

This winter, if you are looking for an inexpensive alternative to staying on mountain, consider staying in Dillon or Silverthorne. Both towns have a large variety of affordable hotels and condo rentals, and both are accessible to the free Summit Stage bus system, which can take you to any of the local Summit County resorts. If you want to save a few bucks on meals, this is probably the only area where you can find a large number of fast food restaurants. Silverthorne is also home to the Silverthorne Outlet Stores where you can find good value on clothing and sporting goods. The beautiful Silverthorne Pavilion is the venue for a number of shows and concerts. For a late afternoon coffee break, check out the Steaming Bean. This comfortable café has free WiFi. They even have a number of PCs you can use at no extra charge.

The neighboring Town of Dillon is home to the award-winning Lake Dillon Theatre. Throughout the year, they show top-quality shows in a variety of theatrical genres. For a great Italian meal and for authentic New York style pizza, check out Jersey Boys, which is located across the street and uphill from the theater.

During the summer, both Dillon and Silverthorne are popular destination for hikers and fishing enthusiasts. The Blue River is considered a Gold Medal Stream. It also has some of the best trout in the state of Colorado, which makes it a popular fly-fishing destination. Golfers will enjoy the Raven Club at Three Peaks. This course, which is located in the Gore Mountain Range, was designed by Alister Mackenzie. It takes you through a scenic route filled with pines, aspens and trout filled lakes. If you would prefer to simply enjoy the waters, you can take a raft down the river, or take a sailboat at the Dillon Marina. On summer nights, the Dillon Amphitheatre hosts a series of exciting concerts.
