For nearly 75 years, skiers have been flocking to the Snoqualmine Pass area in Washington to ski its various mountains. Each one offers a unique experience for first time visitors and repeat guests. Long before night skiing was popular, employees at Snoqualmine Summit, now Summit West, began skiing in the night time after work hours. This allowed for the easy transition today, allowing Summit West to be named the nation’s largest night skiing area.
Besides being known for their night skiing, Summit West is also known for being a good learning mountain. With nearly 200 acres for skiing, the trails are broken down into: 20% for beginners, 56% for intermediate and 24% for advanced. Along with the well groomed trails, Summit West is also home to West 52nd Freestyle Park and the West Greenhorn Park. The West 52nd Park is great for both beginners and avid boarders with a new BoarderX course coming soon.
Throughout Snoqualmine Pass there are a number of accommodations, each one offering something for singles, couples and families alike. From the unique coziness of the Summit Lodge to the Snoqualmine Inn, your budget won’t come between you and a great place to spend the night.
For a bite to eat be sure to check out Big Air Barbecue right off of the slopes, Rosita’s for some great Mexican or Stan’s Café for a quick meal in between runs.
The après ski experience at Summit West can be found at any number of the area’s bars or pubs. Guests enjoy the Timberwolf Bar, offering live entertainment, pool tables and a great fireplace, along with microbrews, wines and spirits.
Keep in mind the great night skiing that Summit West offers and make sure you get in a few runs before it’s too late. Also, check out the other mountains in the Snoqualmine Pass chain before heading home.
